We first opened our doors in 1974.
Back then, Service Press was a small letterpress shop in Hartford. Inside, there was a single press, operated by the founder, and his wife. More work started trickling in, and requests for business forms started increasing. More people and equipment were onboarded, and Service Press became a business forms company.
After decades of printing from rolls and spools of paper, Service Press made the jump into commercial, cut-sheet, and full-color printing. Bindery equipment was unloaded, and new presses setup on the floor. Soon, there wasn’t enough space to fit anything else in the original building in Hartford— and there wasn’t enough space for anything else.
We found an old furniture manufacturing facility in Newington and decided to make that place our new home in 2012. The place was cleaned up (especially all the sawdust), sectioned out, and we packed the presses up and moved them to our new home.
Since the move, we’re still growing and expanding. We sectioned out a whole area and filled it mailing equipment. More digital equipment, and more tools to make the printing process more streamlined, precise, and efficient, are still coming through the doors.
We’ve come a long way from just having a single letterpress. Now we’re a full-service provider of graphic communication products & services.
We continue to perform at the highest level of graphic standards since day one.
